Telenor Personal Pathfinder System
In cooperation with Telenor Connect
Winter 2004
The aim with this project was to integrate IT Product Design and Mechatronics Engineering students through collaboration within the area of User Centered Innovation (UCI).
The project was set up as an invented company, Viator Innovation, to create and maintain a realistic approach. It was structured as a matrix organisation, where everybody was attached to two different teams; a function team and a project team to train multi-functional project work.
"If people travel together, we'd reduce traffic levels and improve the environment. The real task is to make public transport attractive and efficient, so that public transport becomes a reliable alternative to private cars."
We collaborated with the company Telenor Connect, which is part of the Telenor Group, a Norwegian communication group, operating in Europe and Southeast Asia.
It develops intelligent information systems for the public bus sector using technologies such as GPS and real-time information systems.
Our task was to review the complex of public bus transportation and explore the opportunities for new system concepts, products and user interfaces when expanding the use of pervasive computing technology for Telenor Connect.
